GRA 502/ media art project 1 : video piece

This grad.studio video project was inspired by Nam June Paik 's video installation work "Electronic Superhighway". The word "Network" is inferred from his work since there was digital, geographical and visual connection in what the work tried to say. However, for this project "network" is reinterpreted. Experiencing a human network can change to the extent of total absence or presence of the person while he/she choosing what to see, hear among all the sounds and visions of his/hers or others.

Mert Aslan, Illusion (2014, Bilkent University)
"Illusion" is a product of a research project that provided the audiovisual platform for adopting some basic key-terms, which are inspired from Peter Campus's 1971 "There Transitions" video-art project. At a personal level, the title of the video was the most visible key-concept, in which the Campus's work evoked, to conduct the project as a video-essay. There are three main themes are studied interrelatedly in this video-art: reflection as illusion, discovery as similar to illusion, and, nature as opposite to illusion. These words of actions or cases are animated with creating a mise-en-scene from the wild nature to deliver the most potential consistency to the themes.

Eda Erdem, Transition (2014, Bilkent University)
Transition was inspired from Bill Viola's art projects representing transition from life to death.
Facial expressions are a natural portrait were we can observe transition of daily feelings. For this reason transition took a different form in this project and aimed to represent the most commonly observed transition in our life.
Three consecutive videos demonstrate transition itself, it's similar and opposite.

Mehmet N. Savcı, Monochrome (2014, Bilkent University)
Monochrome is limitation. Like colours, sounds can also be monochrome. Musical notes have their colours already.
Music is colourful in a boring monochrome world of human beings. This video is a triad of monochrome of time; being the ultimate linear dimension, musical rhythm in the human evironment, and the music itself.
